This role is dedicated to the consolidation and optimisation of legacy Networking topologies & connections. Primarily responsible for ensuring costs savings & efficiencies are identified and realised in line with agreed strategy and targets for the year. Reporting to the Network Planning Manager the role is one of technical understanding of what needs to be identified coupled with good engagement skills to ensure multiple other departments cooperate in ensuring validation of either data or action/s needed


Accountabilities
This role is dedicated to the consolidation and optimisation of legacy Networking topologies & connections. Primarily responsible for ensuring costs savings & efficiencies are identified and realised in line with agreed strategy and targets for the year.
Reporting to the Network Planning Manager the role is one of technical understanding of what needs to be identified coupled with good engagement skills to ensure multiple other departments cooperate in ensuring validation of either data or action/s needed.


Skills and Knowledge
  • At least 5 years experience gained within the Telecommunications industry, ideally with a service provider.
  • Preferably experience of working as a field or Network engineer
  • Solid engineering skills with proven track record of success
  • Advance working experience and deep understanding of the following systems/networks/technologies as listed is a must (These are the critical requirements):
    • Understanding of cabling in data centres/colocation with and without meet me rooms.
    • Understanding of impact to customer services during migrations
    • Track record of planning migrations on various networks (Packet and Optical)
    • Methodical in approach and ability to work on multiple projects at the same time without losing control.
  • Excellent communications skills that leads from the front to ensure tasks get completed….
  • Knowledge of Optical, OTN and SDH networking skills 
  • Ability to use MS Office, O365 and Teams
