The partnership is the first of its kind with two-way SDN orchestration, delivering seamless access to on-demand connectivity to global destinations

Shanghai, 11 December 2018 – After the successful integration of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) platforms in June, DCConnect Technology Beijing Limited (DCConnect) further collaborate with Epsilon to host the Global Fabric Shanghai workshop; discussing and demonstrating SDN and Artificial Intelligence (AI) innovation in China.
SDN is enabling fluid, elastic and intelligent networking in local markets and across the globe. It is removing the barriers to innovation of applications and services while allowing businesses to efficiently connect on-demand wherever they need to go.
The partnership is the first time two SDN platforms have been interconnected in China via a bi-lateral API Integration. DCConnect’s customers in China can gain instant and seamless access to Epsilon’s Global Interconnect Fabric when they use DCConnect’s SD-Cloud Express platform. It enables users to interconnect with Epsilon’s network of more than 600 Service Providers, Cloud Service Providers and Internet Exchanges whilst facilitating access to over 220 Points of Presence (PoP) globally across Asia, Europe, Middle East and North America.
DCConnect also enables Epsilon’s global customers and partners to interconnect in major cities in China including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Partners can use Infiny by Epsilon to instantly connect to DCConnect’s unique China-wide SDN network with extended access to more than 118 data centres and 11 Cloud Providers, including Alibaba Cloud, Amazon Web Services, Tencent Cloud and Huawei Enterprise Cloud, that are available through DCConnect’s network infrastructure.
During the workshop, DCConnect and Epsilon explained how they are enabling Chinese Service Providers and enterprises to benefit from hyper-connected and hyper-scalable networking. Delegates from the China Academy of Telecommunication Research Department under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), two major China Data Center providers GDS and CIDS, together with Amazon Web Services (AWS China) also supported the event by presenting their insights and visions on SDN, AI technology trends and standards in the next generation Cloud platform.
Topics explored during the workshop and panel discussion include how new global SDN supports business growth via existing platforms, how API interoperability can benefit end customers and how SDN and AI technology will accelerate global connectivity with cloud-centric networking. A live demonstration was conducted to showcase the scalability and agility of interconnected SDN platform by seamlessly connecting cloud services across cities within minutes.
The panel also examined the drivers for change across the globe as well as the challenges that are unique to China. Each panellist shared their thoughts on the future of the Chinese market and discussed new opportunities amidst disruption.

Cross-carrier automation opens up new possibilities for service providers to deliver new connectivity services while accelerating their global reach and capabilities. Our partnership with DCConnect enables its customers to connect beyond China using the same portal they have been using for local connectivity, allowing businesses of all kinds to instantly connect and scale their operations around the world. It is our great pleasure to partner with DCConnect and we look forward to continue working together to drive the future of SDN technology and global connectivity.

Inter-carrier network orchestration is changing SDN. It enables partners to access each other’s Clouds, Data Centres, Internet Exchanges and Partner Ecosystem. The integration of APIs gives customers visibility into network performance across both partners’ footprints enabling them to monitor and manage services from a single portal. It is our honor to have all participants of the workshop, Epsilon, MIIT, GDS, CIDS and AWS to witness the achievement of milestone in the SDN technology development in China, we truly believe SDN and AI technology will flourish in the ever-growing cloud ecosystem.
