US Network Operations and Facilities Manager

Overall Purpose of Job
Manage the day to day network operations within region, such as supporting the network engineering and planning teams with adds, moves and changes, overseeing the local and regional stock levels of network spares and day to day consumables. Allocate & manage and field resources. Assign work tasks to Staging and field engineers. Co-ordinate and manage remote hands tasks for engineering and planning as well as for Service delivery. Working with the NOC during troubleshooting of backbone links and major customer outages.

Provide regular updates to the Directors via weekly reports and management presentations, when required.

Support & provide local knowledge and input to technical sales with complex topology designs for local customers and occasionally attend customer meetings with technical sales.

Day to day responsibility for running Colocation facilities in region including; daily walk through of the facility, managing the maintenance schedule. Engage with vendors to set up and manage COLO & Supplier contracts. Ensure KPI’s and budgets are met during contract term. Hold regular meetings with suppliers to review performance. Co-ordinate and ensure internal Call out rota is covered to meet the business requirements. Liaise with Global Infrastructure manager to ensure both PoP & COLO infrastructure is available to meet customer and network SLA requirements. Ensure power & cooling across all regional COLO M&E equipment are functioning in line with Manufactures and COLO operation standards. COLO room environmental and power is within Customer agreed SLA’s.

Manage staff in region; manage their performance and hold regular 1-2-1 conversations, and on call rota for all technical staff in region.

Be available for escalations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Regional PoP sites in good operational condition and new PoP’s and any changes are updated within the Epsilon OSS.
  • Regional DC operating within spec and maintained as per schedule.
  • Coordination of tasks in region based on project prioritisation and as directed by the PM.
  • Maintain network & consumable stock availability as per minimum stock levels set.
  • Responsible for regional network critical spares (spares used to replace working equipment during faults).
  • Manage staff KPI and performance.

Job Requirements
  • Solid understanding of general service provider network infrastructure
  • Solid understanding of the operations (cabling policies, power availability etc) within data center environments (Equinx, DRT etc.).
  • Solid understanding of Datacenter M&E Operations.
  • Ability to delegate tasks.
  • Work with remote teams.
  • Ability to troubleshoot network issues and support the field and staging teams.
  • Be flexible & adaptable with the business requirements, changes & challenges.
