US Network and Facilities Engineer

Overall Purpose of Job
Network and Facilities Engineer is responsible for executing network installs as per Engineering designs including; staging installs in the lab prior to shipping to remote sites, working with 3rd party engineers to install equipment as per field guidelines and requirements and making equipment live on the Epsilon network and in various management systems prior to handover to the business.

Provide weekly reports on regional network issues.

Assisting NOC and Provisioning with issues in region; troubleshoot network and service faults to resolution and assist provisioning with provisioning of services on new platforms.

Responsible for deployment of customer racks in the New York Facilities, installing equipment and patching as per customer descriptions, provide remote hands assistance and patch services in the MMR.

Oversee all maintenance visits and ensure full records are kept of any maintenance activities. Provide weekly reports on available racks, available power and PUE calculations.


Key Responsibilities

NETWORK RELATED
  • Pre-stage of equipment before deployment.
  • Work with engineering teams to deploy & integrate equipment into the network.
  • Raising & Submission of “Change Control Management Forms.”
  • Initiate and implement migrations.
  • Upload & Update records systems.
  • Ensure site pictures are refreshed & uploaded after an equipment installation or major rack works.
  • Carry out Routine & Preventative maintenance on network equipment.
  • Maintain critical spares in region and ensure critical spares are always available.
Ensure consumables are available (fiber, panels etc).

FACILITIES AND FIELD RELATED:

  • Log all inbound shipments into the system and notify recipient.
  • Monitor & respond to Colo site Mechanical & Electrical Systems alarms and faults.
  • Monitor & respond to Colo environmental systems alarms and fault.
  • Supervise contractors and 3rd parties on site during M&E maintenance visits and repairs.
  • Monitor generator fuel level.
  • Manage and enforce site security policies for customers and employees.
  • Engage and work with 3rd party suppliers for field related activities.

Job Requirements
  • Understanding of one or more technologies: DWDM, OTN, Carrier Ethernet and IP routing in Service provider networks.
  • Experience in migrations of customer services, logically and physically.
  • Experience in installations of equipment on PoP sites.
  • Basic understanding of Datacenter operations.
  • Can do attitude.
  • Willingness to learn new technology through self-study and e-learning.
  • Ability to travel at short notice.
